We planned
this holiday some weeks before and we were really looking forward to leave
the stressy Mumbai and go to a place where we could enjoy the sea, the
nature. Destination Kerala was clear but it should not be the touristic
developed south around Cochin bur the quieter north of the state. After hours searching in internet and tens of telephone calls Diana
put together the trip. We flew to Kozhikode (former Calicut) and spend the first days 20km north of the city on Kappad Beach - the beach where Vasco da Gama landed in 1498, in a small resort overlooking the Arabian sea. We celebrate a quiet Christmas there, enjoying the sunset and the evening buffet. Two nights we stood on the so called backwaters of Kerala, the river system behind the coast, on a houseboat. A really enjoyable and relaxing experience especially that we were on the only boat operating in the area. |
